PACE is unique, with a hybrid mission to assess internationally trained physicians for licensure in Nova Scotia while also providing high quality primary care.

The purpose of PACE is to offer work-place based assessments in office-based primary care in a centralized location for internationally trained physicians.

What is Pace?

  • An innovative pathway to full licensure in Canada to practice primary care medicine.
  • A collaborative initiative between the Medical Council of Canada, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia government.
  • Designed to recognize your existing skills and experience.
  • A competency-based program, not time based.
  • A centralized work-place based clinical setting for assessment by trained assessors.
  • No entry exams required (LMCC).
  • 2 outcomes – Hospitalist Role or Community based Primary Care Physician.
  • Return-of-service required in Nova Scotia.
  • A direct path to meaningful, impactful work in the Canadian healthcare system.
